Description
The RockForce Back Hammer is designed to provide a reverse percussion action, directing impact energy backwards to help release DTH hammers and drill pipes that have become jammed in the drill hole. It provides an effective solution for recovering stuck drilling equipment and can also be used to install or withdraw casing.
The Back Hammer can be mounted between the rotation unit and the drill pipes, or between sections of drill pipe, depending on the drilling setup and application.
When compressed air enters the Back Hammer, the check valve opens and activates the piston. The piston repeatedly strikes the support bar, transferring impact energy directly into the drill string. Directional air passages within the piston and control tube regulate the impact and return strokes for consistent operation.
During the return stroke, an air cushion slows the piston before returning it to the striking position. Exhaust air is discharged through ports located at the shoulder of the Back Hammer.
For hammering casing down, the Back Hammer can simply be installed in the reverse orientation, directing the impact energy downwards instead of upwards.
The RockForce Back Hammer can also be combined with a shock-absorbing unit to help protect the rotation head threads and associated drilling equipment during operation.
